🧠Overview
IFS, created by Dr. Richard Schwartz, is a parts-based psychotherapy that views the mind as a dynamic system of inner “parts,” each with its own emotions, motivations, and beliefs. At your core, however, exists the Self — calm, compassionate, and curious.
Rather than fighting or fixing our inner parts (like anxiety, anger, or shame), IFS teaches us to befriend them — understanding that even our most painful parts have protective intentions.
Think of it as your internal family reunion, where everyone finally gets heard and nobody’s kicked out of the group chat.
