🧠Overview
Developed by Dr. Pat Ogden, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a body-oriented talk therapy that integrates somatic awareness with traditional psychotherapy. It helps clients process trauma, attachment wounds, and emotional dysregulation through the body first, rather than starting with verbal analysis.
The idea: when something traumatic happens, your body remembers — even if your mind doesn’t. SP gives you tools to safely revisit and release those stored experiences, allowing new, regulated patterns to form. It’s like combining body literacy with emotional fluency.
